A full weekend of festivities came to a close on Sunday December 11th in Ft Lauderdale, at the Paradise City Comic Con. The Winter event drew thousands of festival goers who were treated to the entertaining events. The guest list included Ron Perlman and Summer Glau. On Sunday I was able to attended the Star Trek: Voyager panel which included Tim Russ and Ethan Phillips. Great panel, Ethan Phillips told Tim Russ he has a special social media called Assbook hahaha.
Lloyd Kaufman from Troma was in attendance with a 90 minute indie film making master class. His insight and wisdom about the triumphs and tragedies of indie film making are enjoyable to watch. I chatted with him a bit after the event, very pleasant and positive guy.
The Supergeek Film Festival was my main reason for going as I submitted ‘The Gate’. The Gate screened a second time Sunday at 4:30pm. The fantastic film directed and written by Kellie Madison follows the story of Cassie (Amy Johnston), who is saving souls. Child actress Chalet Brannan is in the film and adds the heartwarming touch. Chalet’s character Vania Kuwat warns Amy’s character Cassie about impending events. Chalet is an inspiring young lady, wanting to touch the hearts of people suffering from cancer as she has marked a full year of being cancer free. Cecep Arif Rahman from The Raid 2 played the lead antagonist role and of course there is an epic fight! Watch for the amazing Xin Sarith Wuku he is amazing, and also starred in the recent film Fist of the Dragon!

Sarah Grace Sanders from Batman: Patient Zero Facebook page
The overall winning film was Batman Patient: Zero. Several of the cast and crew were in attendance and I was able to attend their panel as well, watching a behind the scenes documentary about how they got the look and locations. Great film and interesting people involved look for a future article on them, they have wonderful insight into indie film making.
It was great meeting members of the cast and crew including the very creative writer/director Andrew Akler, and the ultra cool lady who played Harley Quinn, Sarah Grace Sanders. Check out Batman: Patient Zero on YouTube now @:
Finishing up the long day Sunday, I was able to partake in one of my favorite classic games Hyperball, this non pinball, pinball game forces you to frantically spell words before your energy runs out and mine did at about 7:30 pm as they were closing up!
Thanks again the the entire staff at Paradise City Comic Con, they were amazingly helpful and kind. I will see you in the Summer at Florida Supercon! Keep reading The Action Elite and Dan’s Movie Report for more reports on the details of this massive summer event.
