Whatever Happened to Evan Lurie?

He never became an A-List star and was only in 14 movies but I always enjoyed Evan Lurie in movies. He would usually play a villain or henchman in actioners like Martial Law II: Undercover, Double Impact, T-Force and Tiger Claws II.

Apparently Lurie was almost killed while working on White Tiger 2; his injuries put him in the hospital for two and half months and led to 12 reconstructive surgeries.

He studied Tae Kwon Do and Kung fu and his film roles  were never short on action so it’s shame he didn’t go on to bigger things. What I didn’t know is that he was also a musician and was part of The Lounge Lizards jazz ensemble with his brother John.

His last movie on IMDb was way back in 1997 in a TV movie called Death Game and then… nothing.

It ends up that he is actually now running the Evan Lurie Fine Art Gallery in Carmel, Indiana which opening in 2007.

There’s no word on him returning to movies any time soon but he made his mark in some cool action movies and the fact that I’m talking about him after 20 years is a good sign.

Below is a fight between Lurie and Jeff Wincott from Martial Law II: Undercover.

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it’s a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone.
