A Remake I’d Pay to See

Practically everything is being remade these days and when said remake is announced it is usually met with rage and derision however, sometimes there are certain movies which could use a redo if the original wasn’t particularly amazing. One of these is Thunder Warrior AKA Thunder which was actually a trilogy of films and were basically cheap Italian rip-offs of Rambo.

Thunder Warrior had Italian actor Mark Gregory in the lead role as a (not very) Native American named Thunder who returns home only to find that his ancestral burial ground is being destroyed by construction workers. He tries to put a stop to it, but the law is not only not on his side, but he is banished from town, beaten up, and left for dead. Now he wants his revenge…

The first movie was a thinly veiled remake of First Blood but I think you could do a blistering new version (how’s this for crazy) by actually having a Native American actor in the lead role! Maybe cast someone like Chaske Spencer or Forrest Goodluck as the lead.

The story would still be very relevant today especially if you watch the news and see how Native American girls have been disappearing or getting murdered and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. This could be incorporated into the story where you have Thunder investigating the murders and the local police feel threatened and go after him. I dunno, I’m making this up as I go along…

I just always thought the idea behind the Thunder Warrior movies was an interesting one and think there is a good movie waiting to get out from it.

So not only could you get a half decent remake but you could also get a trilogy too making a nice little franchise. Just make sure the posters are as awesome as the originals (see below).

I miss movie posters like that.

One thing Eoin the american courts gave the Indians jurisdiction over their own lands and in a lot of cases local police and State Police can’t investigate murders or crimes that occur in Indian lands or even cant go after fugitives that seek refuge & are hiding in those lands.
The locals have a “We take care of it ourselves” attitude & mentality and honestly more often than not, they don’t do shit.

I’ve never sen Part 3, I a hunting down a decent quality version of it.

Yeah there’s a lot they could do with it so I’d be intrigued.

  • Peter Collinson

No Bo Svenson in the third movie?!
    Noooooooo!

That sounds pretty cool. Ever since the early 90’s with the introduction of casinos on Native land, with all the potential crime and corruption they bring has been an underused plot device for action and crime fiction.
