I Eat Green Berets For Breakfast: Commando

Plot: Retired Special Forces soldier John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger) lives with daughter Jenny (Alyssa Milano) in isolation, but his privacy is disturbed by former commander Franklin Kirby (James Olson), who warns him that his fellow soldiers are getting killed one by one. After Kirby leaves, Jenny is kidnapped by former Latin American dictator Arius (Dan Hedaya), who wants Matrix to restore him to power. Instead, Matrix sets out to take down the rogue leader and rescue his daughter.

Commando remains one of Arnie’s finest hours and this scene was always one of my personal favourites. Matrix and Cindy (Rae Dawn Chong) are searching Sully’s motel room when they are interrupted by a certain green beret played by the always terrifying Bill Duke.

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone.

  • 80s Guy

I was fortunate enough to watch this in the cinema when it came out. I loved it and have loved it ever since. ITs simply one of my favorite movies ever. This scene is fantastic, but the scene with Sully is also up there. Arnie is just amazing in the whole movie. One of the great flicks of the 80s

Is it the Director’s Cut? I got that a couple of months ago, didn’t even know it was a real thing.

Just bought the Blu Ray! Classic action!

After he saw The Terminator in 1985 on video, my brother and his pals rented this a year later. At first, he liked it then watching it again, he thought it was rubbish and not as classy as The Terminator. I saw it when it was premiered on British TV in 1992 and liked it. It’s a great fun action movie with Arnie at his wisecracking best. Good and enjoyable for what it is.

  • uh, I got in trouble by a random neighbor in my cousin’s neighborhood for reciting this scene while riding my bike. I think I was 8. This is one of my favorite action movies! It truly is one of Arnold’s finest hours.
