Anthony Hickox passed away October 9 at his home in Bucharest. He was 64.
To film fanatics, Hickox directed some fantastic genres pictures in his time, including Waxwork and it’s sequel, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Sundown, Jill Rips, and my favourite — Full Eclipse.
Known for his fast shooting style and kinetic action scenes, Hickox was a busy director who dabbled in almost every genre during his career. In 2004, he directed the film Submerged and famously clashed with the film’s star, Steven Seagal.
The son of noted director Douglas Hickox and equally praised film editor Anne V. Coates (Raw Deal), film making was in Hickox’s blood from an early age.
My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. RIP Mr. Hickox. Thanks for all the great films.
