Summary

A still often-seen and deservingly loved household classic show thanks to the realistic flourishes and groundbreaking material!

Plot: Post-1944, 2nd Lieutenant Gil Hanley (Rick Jason) and Sgt. “Chip” Saunders (Vic Morrow) lead their platoon through chaotic battles in France.

Review: This classic show has heart and soul as well as involving weekly episodes. It never gets stale despite being mission-based as the scenario itself is believably captured on-screen. The whole thing as much of the same appeal and production values as many of these other westerns, sci-fi and adventure shows from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

The show makes good use of its sets and visual look (even before changing to technicolor in the final season) and using those to look like the European trenches, villages and forests it claims to be set in. You get repeated yet all intensely intriguing sabotaging, bomb planting, strategies and even figuring out occasional saboteurs and traitors bribed by the Germans. The music scores, guest stars, foley, titles, staging and choreography all resonate well and leave above-average impressions.

You can find episodes to buy on some sites, stream on YouTube and record on antenna channels. One of these days, seek out the show that your grandparents used to watch!
