Summary

Firecracker was a fun exploitation flick with some awesome bad guy deaths and a few wicked fight scenes too. It’s also pleasingly short coming in at a measly 75 minutes.

Review: This was a surprisingly awesome martial arts, exploitation flick and had a kick ass female as the lead. Jillian Kesner plays Susanne Carter, a martial arts instructor searching for her missing sister.

The story doesn’t really matter as it’s just an excuse for lots of chop-socky goodness. I dunno why watching girls kicking ass is so awesome but Kesner was a fantastic martial artist and was also strikingly beautiful.

I say “was” because she sadly passed away in 2007; She had leukemia but died of a staph infection. A sad loss as she was very talented.

The acting in the movie wasn’t exactly great and it had the worst music of all time. You know the instrument called the recorder? That thing you’re forced to practice at school? Well there’s a scene where I’m pretty sure the composer is a 6 year old having an epileptic fit while blowing into a recorder. Truly heinous.

There’s tons of fighting, violence and nudity so exploitation fans especially will enjoy it, as long as you don’t mind cheap movies. I think I enjoy lower budget action movies as they tend to be more fun.

Overall, Firecracker was a fun exploitation flick with some awesome bad guy deaths and a few wicked fight scenes too. It’s also pleasingly short coming in at a measly 75 minutes.
