A Tribute to Art Evans (1942-2024)

I was away on vacation last week so I missed this sad news that Art Evans had passed away at the age of 82 due to diabetes.

I grew up seeing him in movies like Die Hard 2: Die Harder as the heroic Barnes, who would be one of the few people that would help John McClane while everyone else thought he was crazy.

Evans also had a major role in Walter Hill’s Trespass as Bradlee, a homeless man trying to say alive while a gang tries to stop 2 firemen from stealing potential treasure. Evans also starred in the underrated Metro which remains one of my favourite Eddie Murphy movies.

He would also have roles in Never Die Alone, The X-Files, Walker: Texas Ranger, Fright Night, L.A. Heat, Tales from the Hood, CB4, Doogie Howser, M.D. and many more. He also has an uncredited role in Death Wish as a police officer and reunited with Bruce Willis for The Story of Us.

It’s sad that we have lost two greats this year from Die Hard 2 – Art Evans and John Amos but their legacies live on and we thank them for their many great contributions to cinema over the years. R.I.P.
