Summary

Bounty Killer won’t be for everyone but there’s a lot to enjoy and plenty of action.

Plot: Bounty killers compete for body count, fame and a fat stack of cash. They’re ending the plague of corporate greed and providing the survivors of the apocalypse with retribution. This is the age of the BOUNTY KILLER.

Review: If ever there’s a movie that’s my kinda film it’s Bounty Killer; a post-apocalyptic action-comedy with the best gore and gratuitous nudity I’ve seen all year. There are loads of exploding heads, a fantastic car chase through the desert (a la Road Warrior) and smoking hot ladies with guns. If this doesn’t sound like your sort of movie, then you best move on to another site.

I was laughing from beginning to end and (like Machete Kills) it doesn’t take itself seriously at all. It’s a blood splattered riot where rather than the violence being shocking, it’s just funny.

Matthew Marsden is super cool as Drifter, the best Bounty Killer in the business with a mysterious past. He has a love/hate relationship with his ex-student Mary Death (played by the lovely Christian Pitre). She’s as deadly as she is beautiful though and she arguably kills more people than Drifter.

I loved how the Bounty Killers are seen as celebrities in this future and it’s got a few nice pieces of satire.

It’s not without flaws though; as fun as the movie is the side-kick Jack LeMans is a little annoying in the first half as he’s the “comic relief” cowardly type, but thankfully his character does develop and by the end he’s a bit of an ass-kicker. He does have some good lines too.

Due to budget constraints sadly there is some CGI, but it is minimal and didn’t really ruin it.

It also under-uses Gary Busey; that’s right The Busey is in this movie but he’s only in about 2 scenes and is quite restrained… for him.

It’s nice to see Kristanna Loken as the villain and her final scene is just legendary; I had tears running down my face, it was so imaginative.

Overall, I think if I ever meet director Henry Saine, I have to buy him a beer as this is just the type of movie I love. It won’t be for everyone and may be too out-there for some tastes but I had a great time with it.
