Daredevil: Born Again – Season 2 (2026) Review

Summary

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is a vast improvement over the first with more action and a genuinely engaging storyline. As always this is Vincent D’Onofrio’s Barbeque and it tastes good with the rest of the cast also given time to shine. The action isn’t quite up there with the Netflix shows, but it’s still action-packed and well paced with Daredevil showing up in costume for every episode.

Plot: In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.

Review: The first season of Daredevil: Born Again was a bit of a letdown for many after the mastery of the Netflix series. It felt more like Matt Murdoch and friends and took several episodes before we actually saw Daredevil in costume. Thankfully, season 2 is a vast improvement in every way with the Man Without Fear showing up in every episode.

This season doesn’t skimp on the action either with regular fight scenes; it still doesn’t quite match the Netflix series, and I think the corridor fight is still one of the best I’ve ever seen on television.

That’s not to denigrate some of the great action on display here but if I’m being honest, I’m just here to fangirl over Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. Every moment he is on screen is when Born Again is at its best and I especially love any scene he shares with Charlie Cox. The two have such an amazing dynamic that just watching them talk is always engaging. They do of course fight, but there is so much more to their relationship and a grudging mutual respect which is what keeps me coming back.

The performances all round are faultless and I love Karen’s journey in this season as she has progressed from always looking close to tears which she regularly seemed to before. Michael Gandolfini is amazing as Daniel, and I love his scenes with Buck.

Daredevil’s new costume looks the best yet too and Bullseye also looks amazing.

The Newton Brothers knock it out of the park with the music score with some epic choirs and there are some nice choices of songs too. This series uses Billy Joel’s New York State of Mind in the best ever context too…

I’m trying to remain spoiler free here, so I don’t want to say much else, but this is damn good television and although still not quite up there with the Netflix show it still has some fantastic character moments and action scenes.

Overall, Daredevil: Born Again – Season 2 is vastly superior to the first season (which I admittedly still enjoyed) with bigger and better action and Vincent D’Onofrio once again proving he is one of the best actors in the business. Charlie Cox and the rest of the cast are all great too, making this a must watch.
