Dolph Lundgren and Hard Cut

Why stop at 80 when you can get to 90? So asks Dolph Lundgren’s vodka brand, Hard Cut. The Swedish chemical engineer turned kick boxer turned movie star has a new gig, CEO of his own alcohol company. Apparently Dolph tried out 20-30 vodkas and settled on one fermented from potatoes using water from the Rocky Mountains making it higher proof but still delivering balanced flavor. Dolph and team have been canvassing Southern California promoting the brand at liquor stores with tastings and signings. Based in Los Angeles, you can catch Ivan Drago/He-Man/The Punisher bartending at high end bars and restaurants. Quickly established, Hard Cut is now carried by multiple chain stores and swanky establishments.

When Dolph came to my side of town, it was a no brainer to show up and support. Still imposing and fit in his 60’s, Dolph signed bottles of Hard Cut and memorabilia then took photos with all. Trading cards are hot as Dolph was presented with multiple Rocky IV snaps along with posters, boxing gloves and VHS covers. Multiple signed bottles in hand for home and gifting, we tasted Hard Cut neat and it had a very neutral taste with a smooth mouth feel and that good chest warming heat.

For the action hero alcohol connoisseur, Jean-Claude Van Damme previously touted Old Oak Whiskey. Sylvester Stallone had his own water line, Sly Water, while brother Frank launched bourbon line, Uncle Frank. I was unaware Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the booze game until researching this and discovered he’s an investor in Lobos 1707 Tequila. And his Institute for State and Global Policy partnered with Alexander Murray & Co. for MacSchwarzengger Whisky to support climate initiatives and wildfire relief.
