A while back we announced that Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) was set to star as Deathstalker in a new reimagining of the 80’s classic, directed by Steven Kostanski (“The Void,” “Psycho Goreman”). According to Variety “Bernhardt plays a barbarian cursed by a magical talisman, leading him into conflict with a malevolent wizard and monstrous assassins.”
This is a reboot I can 100% get behind mostly due to the fact it has Daniel Bernhardt in the lead after playing countless villains in recent years; it will be good to see him in a lead role again.
Bernhardt said to Variety: “I am thrilled to be working with Steven. I love this genre, and what Steven created in his creature shop is mind-blowing. I am so excited to do battle as a Deathstalker who is more of a grizzled war veteran in this story.”
Raven Banner Entertainment has launched sales at the Cannes Film Festival‘s market so I imagine we will get to see the full finished project some time next year.
