Indie Feature: Censor Addiction (2026) Review

Indie Action Done Right
4

Summary

Censor Addiction is Michael Matteo Rossi’s best film with a brisk runtime, moments of extreme violence and some decent action despite budget restraints.

Plot: In 2030, a group of former employees band together to take down a corrupt medical giant determined to increase the levels of crime throughout the country.

Review: Writer/Director Michael Matteo Rossi returns with the awesomely named Censor Addiction which is arguably his best film to date.

The cast includes Vernon Wells (Commando), Daniel O’Reilly, Mike O’Hearn, Vanessa Angel, Chris Moss and Bart Voitila.

Censor Addiction has an awesome concept where a corrupt medical company wants to increase crime in the country through medication, thus creating more profits for them. To be fair, there isn’t anything unbelievable about that idea, especially these days.

I think Bart Voitila practically steals the show as the hateful henchman, Canvas Jones; he’s wonderfully smug and gets to use two awesome gold guns.

Mike O’Hearn also shines as a Terminator-esque villain who at one-point crushes someone’s head like a melon… which is one of the reasons why I’m giving this film such a high rating. This is the best paced of Rossi’s movies and has several action scenes to keep things moving.

It has a cool score which adds to the atmosphere and despite not having a big budget Censor Addiction looks great.

Vernon Wells doesn’t have a huge role but it’s always cool to see him in any capacity especially as a good guy.

Overall, Censor Addiction is Michael Matteo Rossi’s best film and also his most violent, which is always a plus. This may be a low budget indie movie but it’s still a fun ride and I’ll be there for the potential sequel too.
