Indie Feature: Steel City (2026)

Plot: When a military vet (Shawn DaWain Holt), stumbles upon a town under siege by a merciless overlord (Carlito Doss). After helping out a homeless stranger (Kyle A. Lee), he is thrown back into battle to bring peace and clarity back to the people of Steel City.

Steel City is an independent fight flick from Actor/Director/Writer/Producer Shawn DaWain Holt.

At only 36 minutes long Steel City packs a punch wasting no time in getting going with a fight scene within the first few minutes.

Giving off First Blood vibes, it tells the story of a drifter called Max passing through town and he sees a man getting beaten up by a group of thugs. He can’t stand by when injustice is happening, so he intervenes leaving the goons unconscious. The local crime boss is understandably annoyed and a battle between the two is about to begin.

Steel City may not have a big budget, but I always respect filmmakers who can create something out of nothing. The story has a beginning, middle and an end, we care about our hero, Max and we hate the villains. Shawn DaWain Holt is a sympathetic lead, in great fighting shape and I love how he makes some Van Damme-esque “Yaaahhhs” when fighting…

His character suffers from PTSD which we’ve obviously seen before but it works well for this story.

Overall, Steel City may be low budget, but it still has a compelling story, plenty of fights and an appealing lead.
