Indie Feature: The Caretaker (2025)

Plot: Aided by his friend, the caretaker of an abandoned ghost town during the offseason tries to safeguard a young woman from violent kidnappers working for a ruthless crime boss.

Robert Bronzi is back in The Caretaker, not to be confused with The Beekeeper, The Bricklayer, The Gardener, The Baker or The Painter. He stars alongside Avaryana Rose, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Daniel Baldwin and Paul Logan.

It’s a straightforward enough tale with little in the way of budget but makes up for it with the regular fight scenes. Bronzi brings his usual stoic manliness to the role of the mysterious Caretaker who finds a shot at redemption after failing to save his daughter.

A troubled girl called Gina, (Rose) is being transferred to the crimelord Draco (Daniel Baldwin) who has his own reasons for wanting to see her. When their car breaks down in the ghost town Bronzi protects the girl while Draco‘s men sweep in to kill him. Thus ensues regular fight scenes with Bronzi doing what he does best. Rampage Jackson also shines as The Caretaker’s best friend who helps in taking out the trash.

This being an indie feature (as I mentioned) this is low budget stuff with no big set-pieces, but it’s still well paced with fights every few minutes and Daniel Baldwin never phones it in always making for an enjoyable villain. Bronzi says about 3 lines for the entire runtime, but it works in keeping him mysterious where he lets his fists do the talking. Paul Logan deserves to be a bigger star as he has the look and the voice to be an action hero and I really liked that movie The Horde he did a few years back.

Overall, The Caretaker may be low budget but it’s elevated by plenty of fight scenes and Robert Bronzi doing his stoic manly thing with a decent supporting cast.
