Thank you for taking the time to chat with me today. So, we’re going to be talking about your new film Shadow Force. First of all, what was it that appealed about the script to you?
Wow, well it is an action movie, but I felt it was different because it had soul and heart and it was about the family and about being a mother or a father and whatever you do for a living, that we do everything for our kids.
Yeah, this is a very physical movie. What kind of training did you have to undergo to prepare for this role?
Oh yeah, we had tons of training. We had weapons training because we were all handling guns all the time and there were car chases and helicopters and motorbikes and we had even boats crashing on the island. It was a lot of training. We were, with Kerry especially, we had all this stage combat training for our sequence. So, it was a lot of work, but it was so much fun.
I am a huge fan of director Joe Carnahan. How was he to work with?
It was amazing. He was so much fun. He knows what he wants. He’s a great director. He knows how to do action quickly and he knows where to cut, where to put the camera and he’s humble and he’s fun. So, it’s amazing to be with him on set.
Does he let you improvise or do you just stick stringently to the script?
No, actually he was very open with everyone, because he also has a little bit of humor. He loves to have action movies, but with a little humour. There are jokes in the script, but it’s more what happens with the characters when we are there and what happens around on the island and the helicopter. So, he was really open to that, to what happened on set and what we were proposing and yeah, he was not strict at all.
How would you describe your character of Moriti?
I would say she’s a badass assassin. So, we wouldn’t say she’s bad. I always try not to treat my characters like black and white. It’s not that she’s good or bad. She’s part of the Shadow Force, the special forces. She’s a really well-trained woman that knows what she wants. And she’s right now just trying to find this couple. They broke the rules of the Shadow Force. They have a kid that was not permitted. And I think it’s not only that they broke the rules, but also that the rest of the Shadows, we don’t have that. We don’t have a couple. We don’t have a son and we kind of don’t like that. So, that’s why we’re trying to find him.
Thank you so much for taking the time to chat and all the best with the movie.
Thank you. Bye-bye.
