Explosive
Summary
Osiris delivers the action goods with plenty of shoot-outs and it’s always awesome to see Linda Hamilton back in action again.
Plot: Special Forces commandos are abducted mid-operation by a mysterious spacecraft and, upon awakening, find themselves prey to a relentless alien race in a fight for survival.
Review: As I’ve said before William Kaufman isn’t capable of making a bad film; even when dealing with a low budget his films look awesome and Osiris is another winner.
Starring Max Martini as Kelly, the leader of a group of special forces who are abducted mid battle and wake up on what appears to be an alien spacecraft. They spend the movie avoiding death while taking down as many of the aliens as possible. Linda Hamilton appears about half way through the movie as Anya, a seasoned veteran who helps the men in their battle.
Osiris is packed with near constant gunfire and the pacing is relentless really creating a sense of threat and encroaching doom.
It feels like a cross between Aliens and Predator, but rather than the humans being hunted for sport, they are hunted for food. The creatures themselves are done practically for the most part and look like terrifying monsters. They also have some awesome weapons which are one of the film’s highlights.
At times I found it a little dark to see what was happening, but that could just be my laptop however, it also helped in creating a claustrophobic atmosphere.
Overall, Osiris is a welcome change of pace for William Kaufman who is known for more grounded crime thrillers rather than sci-fi; this is packed with action and Max Martini is believable as the military lead as he has that natural tough bearing about him. Seeing Linda Hamilton back in action never disappoints either making this a fun ride.
