Today we say goodbye to a legend as the great Udo Kier has passed away at the age of 81; he has been in so many movies with an incredible filmography that spans decades. Roles include Blade, Brawl in Cell Block 99, Ace Ventura, The Lords of Salem, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, Armageddon, The Secret Agent, Swan Song, Hunters and many, many more.
I remember Udo came to TIFF in 2017 to promote Brawl in Cell Block 99; he was introduced and swaggered in with a glass of wine and would chat with members of the audience. At one point he would walk about and say “you there, ask me a question. Not quick enough. Next?” He was a larger than life personality and we loved him.
