Plot: Raul Guzman, a small-time drug dealer, starts a gang war in Los Angeles when he takes on Giovanni, the most powerful Mafia boss in the city. A former police officer decides to intervene in the escalating conflict.
If ever there was a movie that’s terribly entertaining, it’s L.A. Wars starring Vince Murdocco. This is 90 minutes of near constant action with regular fight scenes, shoot-outs and of course unnecessary nudity making this a bit of a must-see.
Murdocco plays ex-cop Jake Quinn, and his former boss Capt. Roark asks him if he’ll go undercover with mob moss Giovanni to try and stop a street war that has broken out in the city. What’s funny is that Jake is actually a bit of a dick and practically every conversation he has with Roark involves him saying “Fuck you, Roark” and storming off before eventually agreeing to go undercover.
He’s also quite arrogant even smiling during some fight scenes which kinda makes you love him. Quinn of course falls for Giovanni’s daughter Carla, but the story doesn’t quite go the way you’d expect. This is due to the psychotic henchman Vinnie Scoletti who wants Carla for himself and decides he wants to take over the city. What ensues is a bloodbath with Quinn going into one man army mode for the finale.
Some of the acting and dialogue in L.A. are questionable at best but that’s just part of the fun and it’s hard to dislike a movie with so much action. Sure, it has a budget of 2 dollars, but this is the ultimate guilty pleasure… without the guilt.
So, Sue Me! I like L.A. Wars and if you don’t then you have better taste than me.
