Last night we were at TIFF for a screening of Kenji Tanigaki’s latest action opus, The Furious with the director and cast all in attendance. I was able to record some of the amazing Q and A after the movie (which you can see below) and this is one of the best I’ve seen.
We got to meet the cast and Kenji and chat with them outside. I’ve been wanting to meet Joe Taslim for some time and he is even cooler in real life. We chatted about the TV series Warrior and why it should be brought back; he said it needed at least another 2 seasons which I agreed with.
Xie Miao was humble and kind taking time to chat with fans and doing photos too. I told him I thought the movie was incredible (which it was) and he shook my hand and seemed genuinely grateful that we enjoyed it so much.
Yayan Ruhian may be known more for playing antagonists (especially in this movie) but in real life he is soft spoken and was taking photos with fans outside.
Kenji was also awesome and is one of the best action directors in the business; he was also happy to chat and take pictures with us all.
This is easily my favorite ever experience at TIFF and is what it should be; it was an honour and a pleasure to meet these great talents who still took time to chat with fans without being whisked away by bodyguards like so many other actors do.
