They Will Kill You (2026) Review

Some Great Bloodshed But Too Silly
3

Summary

They Will Kill You starts off well and has some decent fight scenes and rivers of blood, but it just gets too ridiculous for me so I kinda tuned out about half way through. It’s still a fun time, but you can wait until streaming.

Plot: A woman answers a cryptic ad for a housekeeping job at a luxurious yet foreboding New York City high-rise. Upon arrival, she discovers residents have vanished without a trace for decades, fuelling whispers of a satanic cult lurking in the shadows.

Review: The trailer for They Will Kill You promised a blood-soaked rampage and in that respect it absolutely delivered.

Zazie Beetz plays our hero Asia Reaves, a woman who gets a new job as a maid in an old building run by the seemingly kind Lilith (Patricia Arquette). It doesn’t take long for Asia to discover that all is not what it seems in this building and it could be run by a demonic cult.

It’s funny, They Will Kill You starts off well and I was totally into it and then once the villain’s true nature is revealed, it completely lost me and then becomes utterly ridiculous. It still has plenty of bloody violence and awesome fight scenes. There are literal geysers of blood and Zazie Beetz is appealingly badass as Asia.

It’s well paced clocking in at around 90 minutes and the insane finale is one of the most bonkers set-pieces I’ve ever seen.

It looks gorgeous and has a nice sense of style and cool music but for me, the extremely high concept is really where it falls down. If you can swallow that then you’ll have a fun time as this is certainly unique and not the carbon copy of Ready or Not that you may expect.

Overall, They Will Kill You delivers all the bloodshed you could want with plenty of gore and gruesome kills as well as nicely choreographed fights. Zazie Beets makes for an appealing lead and it’s well paced, but it just got too silly for me.
