Over the past few weeks, I’ve been watching the usual Christmas action movies AKA Die Hard and Lethal Weapon and it got me thinking. We all know these take place in the Val Verde Universe, so wouldn’t it have been cool to have some franchise crossovers? It could also be terrible in the wrong hands, but if you had Shane Black/Steve E. De Souza write the script and have John McTiernan direct we could have had something awesome. I had an idea that would bring these two franchises together which is purely for fun, so don’t overthink it.
When a notorious arms dealer orchestrates a daring heist at the headquarters of a major tech corporation in Los Angeles, the chaos attracts the attention of two seasoned law enforcement officers. John McClane, the legendary NYPD detective known for his grit and resilience, unexpectedly finds himself in L.A. on personal business. Meanwhile, LAPD’s wise-cracking but resourceful duo, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, are already on the case, teaming up to thwart the rogue operation.
As McClane’s knack for improvisation clashes with Riggs’s reckless bravado and Murtaugh’s cautious demeanor, the trio must navigate through a labyrinth of high-tech security, a series of explosive set-pieces, and an escalating body count. With time running out, they uncover a deeper conspiracy involving corrupt officials, putting not only their lives but also the fate of the city at stake.
As tensions flare and egos clash, McClane’s lone wolf approach is challenged by Riggs’s unpredictable nature, leading to a comedic yet thrilling partnership. Together, they draw on their unique skills—McClane’s street-smart instincts, Riggs’s martial arts expertise, and Murtaugh’s tactical experience—to outsmart the enemy, rescue hostages, and ultimately confront the mastermind behind the chaos in a showdown that tests their limits.
I’ve been racking my brains to come up with a potential title but maybe something like Die Harder Than Lethal or something. Die Lethal?
This is just me spit-balling. Do you have any cooler ideas? If you like this concept, then it may be a new series I do of movies we wish that had happened…
