Bloodsport: 30th Anniversary Screening + Q&A with Writer Sheldon Lettich!

Are you based in Los Angeles or the surrounding area? If so then you owe it to yourself to check out the JCVD classic Bloodsport on the big screen with a Q and A with Sheldon Lettich.

Check out details below from The Frida Cinema:

Like a roundhouse kick to the face, the martial arts cult classic Bloodsport slams back to the big screen on December 8th and 9th in celebration of its 30th Anniversary!  Experience the movie that made Jean-Claude Van Damme – the “Muscles from Brussels” – a star!  PLUS – after our December 8th screening, join us as we welcome writer Sheldon Lettich to The Frida!

Based on the (largely unverified, but he swears it’s all true…) true story of martial artist and fight choreographer Frank Dux, Bloodsport stars Van Damme as Dux, an American soldier who travels to Hong Kong to be accepted into the Kumite, a highly secret and extremely violent martial-arts competition. While trying to gain access into the underground world of clandestine fighters, he also has to avoid military officers who consider him to be AWOL. After enduring a difficult training and beginning a romance with journalist Janice Kent (Leah Ayres), Frank is given the opportunity to fight. But can he survive?

December 8th screening will be followed by a Q&A with Sheldon Lettich, writer of Bloodsport as well as Lionheart, Rambo III, and Double Impact!  Featuring a stunning myriad of fighting styles, the most obvious soundtrack in cinema history, and, oddly, Forest Whitaker, Bloodsport is a joyous celebration of masculinity, and more 80’s than Dolph Lundgren jazzercising on the hood of a Ferrari.  Throw on a headband and get tickets today!

1988. Directed by Newt Arnold. 92 mins. Rated R.
