Could 2019 Be A Vintage Year for Action?

2018 has had a few truly great action movies like Mission: Impossible – Fallout and The Night Comes for Us. 2019 however, looks like it could be a bit of a classic with several big action franchises returning.

I know we’d all like to see more original fare but there is never going to be anyone that can match Rambo and I am personally ecstatic to see another entry. I agree that Part IV ended perfectly but the opportunity to see John Rambo destroying drug cartels is just too much awesomeness to comprehend.

I’m pretty sure we won’t be seeing The Expendables 4 next year (if at all?) but we’ll keep our eyes peeled just in case it comes out at the end of the year.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard is also getting a sequel entitled The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard so we can expect Salma Hayek to be returning. I thought she was the weakest aspect of the first film so I’m not sure about this one but we’ll see…

I know I’m one of the few people that enjoyed Mechanic: Resurrection but to me is was an old-school action movie with The Stath going full-on one many army in the finale. So colour me happy that we are getting Mechanic 3; once again no word on cast or story or if it is even out in 2019; we just know that it is on Millennium’s slate of upcoming movies.

I thought Angel Has Fallen was supposed to be out this year but it will now be August 2019 too so we have Mike Banning returning to kick ass in Hard R style once again.

And who can forget that best hitman in the business? Mr. John Wick returns for the third and potentially final chapter in the series… until the TV spin-off.

He always said he’ll be back and he wasn’t lying as Terminator 6 has Arnie and Linda Hamilton returning with James Cameron producing.

Frank Grillo will star with Mel Gibson and a host of A-Listers in the awesome looking Boss Level and we also have Gibson starring alongside Vince Vaughn in Dragged Across Concrete.

Top Gun: Maverick is meant to be out next year with Tom Cruise set to return to one of his most iconic roles.

Dwayne Johnson teams up with Jason Statham in the anticipated Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.

Not sure what the release date will be but I’m pretty sure we’ll see Ip Man 4 next year too with Donnie Yen and Scott Adkins. Adkins will also return in Avengement, (maybe Triple Threat?!?!), Abduction and Seized.

I love my monster punching movies and Godzilla: King of the Monsters is also meant to take a bow in 2019.

There are also a ton of superhero movies including Wonder Woman 2, Hellboy, Avengers 4 and Shazam.

So I don’t know about anyone else but I’m gonna have to start a second paper round to pay for all of these.
