Fan Expo 2019 Highlights

Well the 25th year of the Toronto Fan Expo has come to an end and I have to admit that this year has personally been the best yet. A lot of the time I find with these fan events everything is geared towards horror or science fiction but the fact that we got some action stars in it made this a bit of a classic and actually relevant to this site. Getting to meet Steven Seagal was awesome and as I said he wasn’t what I expected but in a good way.

Then to meet an icon like John Travolta was something I never saw happening; he was smiley and relaxed and shook everyone’s hand and just seemed happy to be there. Judging by the massive number of people there to meet him the man needs a big theatrical release again as he still has the fanbase.

Then I got to meet RoboCop himself Peter Weller; I’d heard a while back that he doesn’t usually like being asked about RoboCop as he is sick of it so I talked about Screamers which he was delighted about. So not only did I get photo but a signed poster too.

Meeting Tom Welling & Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville was awesome too as they were hilarious and seemed like people you would want to go drinking with.

The same can be said for the cast of The Boys; when Antony Starr saw my Yippee-ki-yay T-shirt he said “Yippee-ki-yay muthafucka! I love it! awesome shirt.” Banshee is my favourite TV show of all-time and The Boys is amazing so far too so meeting him was a highlight of the year for me. Meeting Karl Urban and Jack Quaid was a blast and Urban is one of the most mischievous people I’ve met with a fantastic sense of humour.

I kind of fell in love with Summer Glau from Wu Assassins who was just a delight to be around; she says she wants to come back in season 2 for revenge which I think is necessary.

I also got to interview Bruce Campbell who is a legend in every respect; he is kind and easy to talk to putting everyone at ease. He is a pro and I love watching him in every TV show and movie.

So thank you Fan Expo for an incredible weekend which I won’t forget in a hurry; congratulations on 25 years now here’s to 2020.
