Hey Arnold! Give Us Legend of Conan!

I sat down to watch the all new Celebrity Apprentice last night with Arnold Schwarzenegger replacing The Donald and I don’t think I’ve been so depressed for a long time. Seeing Arnie spout the old tired one-liners throughout what was one of the most staged looking shows I’ve ever seen was cringeworthy.

It just got me thinking, there is only one thing I want from Arnold at this stage: if you only do one more movie in your career give us Legend of Conan (or Conan the Conqueror as it’s also known). So it begs there question… where is it? It seems to have been in development for the longest time and yet it still isn’t anywhere closer to being released.

When talking at a press conference early last year Arnie talked about the script saying “It needs some tweakage but really they’ve done an extraordinary job with it, very thoughtful so I’m looking forward to working with them on that as soon as this gets out of the way, because I’m very focused on one thing at a time. Then we do the next thing. Our tone is a logical extension of the character established in the ’82 film…but 30 years later. When we meet him again, Conan has been many things over the course of his life — a thief, a warrior, a pirate, a king, a legend — and is now an older man. Think Unforgiven…with a sword-wielding barbarian.”

Well, it’s a year later and still no word on the fate of the film; there wasn’t even a director attached last I heard and with Arnold working on Celebrity Apprentice and movies like Aftermath, Journey to China: The Mystery of Iron Mask, Why We’re Killing Gunther and the recently announced Expendables 4 you’ve gotta wonder if this is ever going to happen.

So Arnie if you read this, you know we love you but come on and be Conan one last time before it’s too late.
