Into the Blue (2005) Review

Verdict
2.5

Summary

Into the Blue is forgettable fluff but the attractive people and locations make it a nice escape on a cold winter’s day; just a shame some of the characters are so annoying.

Plot: A group of divers find themselves in deep trouble with a drug lord after they come upon the illicit cargo of a sunken airplane.

Review: I think the only point in this movie was for the cast to all look beautiful and swim a lot; it certainly works regarding Jessica Alba who spends most of the movie in a bikini and for the ladies they have Paul Walker in shorts. It’s kind of win/win really.

The underwater scenes look amazing and it’s all fabulously shot; it’s just a problem that I couldn’t take to any of the characters.

The biggest flaw was Scott Caan who was just annoying; why can’t he keep his arms still when he talks? He’s the reason I stopped watching Hawaii Five-0 on TV as well.

You do have the plus side of James Brolin as a villain who makes any move worth watching. In this he’s particularly nasty and rather creepy too.

Paul Walker and Jessica Alba are actually pretty decent although like I said it’s kind of hard to take to their characters, but their performances are alright.

In terms of action there’s a few underwater fights which are really nicely put together and there’s a few chases as well.

I don’t remember any lines from the script which isn’t a good sign and it’s all pretty lightweight.

Overall, Into the Blue is forgettable fluff but the attractive people and locations make it a nice escape on a cold winter’s day; just a shame some of the characters are so annoying.
