Today we lose a legend as we are sad to announce that Richard Roundtree has passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of 81. Roundtree was born on July 9, 1942, in New Rochelle, New York. He started his career in the film industry in the late 1960s and is best known for his role in the iconic film, Shaft, which was released in 1971.
Roundtree played the role of John Shaft, a private detective who became an instant hit among moviegoers and cemented his place in the film industry. Shaft won Roundtree several accolades and established him as a versatile actor.
Throughout his illustrious career, Roundtree worked in over 70 films and TV shows. He portrayed a diverse range of characters in his films, showcasing his versatility as an actor. He appeared in films like Maniac Cop, Q, Speed Racer, Bloodfist 3, Se7en and Brick as well as the TV series Lethal Weapon.
R.I.P. Sir, you will be missed.
