Marko Zaror: A New Legend of Action?

Marko Zaror may not be an A-list Hollywood name yet but he certainly has made an impression on martial arts fans.

In case you don’t know the name, Marko Zaror is a Chilean martial arts action star and fight choreographer.

As a young boy he had a great passion for martial arts which was inspired by Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jean-Claude Van Damme. At the age of six he started training himself, and by the age of 18 Marko had become an exceptional kick-boxer and Tae Kwan Do scholar.

He starred in a few movies before having a role as Raul ‘Dolor’ Quinones in 2010’s Undisputed III: Redemption. He really stood out due to his huge frame and first rate martial arts skills.

Clearly impressed by Zaror’s skills director Robert Rodriguez cast him as the imaginatively named Zaror in 2013’s Machete Kills.

It would be Redeemer (due out on Blu-ray/DVD in September in the US) that would cement Zaror as the next big name in action. In the movie he played a former hit-man for a drug cartel who becomes a vigilante to pay for his sins and find redemption.

It had bone crunching action scenes and is already on my list of best action movies of 2015.

So What’s next for Marko Zaror? Well, according to his IMDB page he has two projects in development.

In Green Ghost he plays character called Drake with  a cast that also includes Danny Trejo. The story is as follows: In order to help save the world from an Aztec Apocalypse, a gringo from the barrio, raised by an elite group of covert Mexican warriors, has to over-come self doubt transforming into a superhero, The GREEN GHOST.

I’m not sure how big Marko Zaror’s role will be in the film but hopefully he gets some decent screen time.

The other project which sounds interesting is called One Good Thing which co-stars The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian. It tells the story of a reluctant mob enforcer and a police officer who team up to protect a young girl caught between rival gangs at war with a squad of corrupt cops.

I love that Zaror is working with one of the main cast members from The Raid franchise; how about we get him for The Raid 3?

At 37 years old Marko Zaror still has a great career ahead of him, now let’s hope he gets more high profile roles so he can become one of the biggest action stars in the business.
