Moving Target (1996) Review

Summary

Moving Target brings nothing new to the genre and you’ll barely remember it after watching it. The lack of Dudikoff kicking ass was the most disappointing aspect and I’d say this one is for completists only.

Plot: A bounty hunter with a pregnant wife who is urging him to get a regular job gets framed for murder and trapped in a war between Russian gangsters.

Review: Michael Dudikoff and Billy Dee Williams star in this rather bland 90’s actioner and it’s a shame it isn’t more exciting as I love the cast in this movie. Billy Dee deserved to be a bigger star as he is always great to watch on screen and had that smooth way about him.

Dudikoff plays a bounty hunter who sadly doesn’t have any martial arts skills so he spends most of the movie getting his ass kicked; I found it frustrating as I wanted him to rise up and bring the pain to various bad guys but it really didn’t deliver the goods. Admittedly the fights were more realistic than your average action movie and didn’t look overly choreographed so it deserves credit for that.

His performance was also good and he plays a likeable everyman but it’s so forgettable that it’s no wonder nobody talks about this movie much.

The music score is very 90’s sounding but that’s OK as it has some electric guitar goodness which is required for every great action flick.

It felt more like a TV show pilot rather than a movie and lacked any real tension or thrills making it one of Dudikoff’s weaker efforts.

Overall, Moving Target brings nothing new to the genre and you’ll barely remember it after watching it. The lack of Dudikoff kicking ass was the most disappointing aspect and I’d say this one is for completists only.
