I can’t believe it’s been a year since the last Niagara Falls Comic Con but here we are again; I got to meet some really cool people but I think the coolest has to be Legend of Action, Mark Dacascos. I’ve been wanting to meet him for many years having grown up with movies like Drive, Only the Strong, Crying Freeman, Brotherhood of the Wolf and recently John Wick 3.
I got to speak to him for about 5 minutes which is longer than I get for some interviews. What was amazing is that I talked up to him and he said “have we met before? I feel like I know you”. I told him about the site and how we’ve interacted a few times before and he must have seen one of my interviews or livestreams.
We spoke about how the TV show Warrior ended too soon and he was saying what a great guy Joe Taslim is. We also chatted about how Crying Freeman deserves a proper North American 4K release.
Mark was also saying how great Brittany Murphy was in Drive and we went into how she passed away far too young. He signed my 4K of Drive too which I will treasure always.
My Scottish/Irish background always seems to interest people and we chatted about that too. Mark said “Eoin, that’s the first time I’ve seen it spelled like that… you’re my first”. I replied with “I’m also your best”.
This was one of the best (and funniest) celebrity meet-ups I’ve ever had, so if you’re in Niagara Falls, Ontario this weekend stop on by and say hi.
