We Survived the Upside Down at Stranger Things: The Experience in Toronto

EVER WANTED TO BE THE PROTAGONIST OF A STRANGER THINGS ADVENTURE? Your chance has arrived. Stranger Things: The Experience throws you headfirst into your favorite show —join Eleven, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max, and Will for a very special episode starring… you! Venture inside Hawkins Lab for an immersive experience featuring a brand-new Stranger Things storyline, then explore an 80’s-themed Mix-Tape medley with food & drinks, special merchandise, photo ops, and much more.

We were kindly invited to the Stranger Things Experience in Toronto today and as my brother Ed and I are huge fans of the show we jumped at the chance to check it out for ourselves. We grew up in the 80’s so we were intrigued to see if it actually felt like it took place during that era and we are happy to report that it 100% did.

The Experience itself has you visit Hawkins Lab from the show and if you’ve ever seen Stranger Things you’ll know that things don’t usually go well in that facility. I won’t go into details as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but it was huge fun for all ages. There were young kids with their families, other people our age and older.

It doesn’t take long for you to get fully immersed in the story and the fact the actual cast of the show all take part makes it even more entertaining. The technology used is quite mind blowing (literally) using 3D and CG to bring the world of the show to life, especially the Upside Down which is easily one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.

Once the show is over you come out into an area which is set up like the mall in Hawkins with a real bar (I had tequila), real 80’s arcade games (and music), an ice cream stand that does amazing milkshakes and even a pizza stall which was also one of the best pizzas I’ve had for some time.

Below are some photos of Ed and me in the glorious neon-soaked nirvana that was the mall set so if you are a fan of the show or just of immersive entertainment then Stranger Things: The Experience is something you don’t want to miss.
